The Wedding Website of Aarica Arora and Troy Johnsen
While you're visiting, be sure to check out the Seattle highlights (https://visitseattle.org/) and a myriad of natural wonders that the PNW has a lot to offer! Some of our favourites are listed below. A lot of these hikes are in remote areas and we'd encourage you to bring 10 essentials with you on any hike at any time of the day: https://www.wta.org/go-outside/trail-smarts/ten-essentials Want other options? Check out this awesome map. Feel free to filter by mileage, location, and even terrain features! https://www.wta.org/go-outside/map

Rattlesnake LedgeRattlesnake Ledge

North Bend, WA

This hike is practically in Snoqualmie's backyard. It gets VERY CROWDED, so weekdays are ideal. Easy-Intermediate 4 miles roundtrip 1168 ft elevation gain Note: this is where Troy proposed!

Snow LakeSnow Lake

North Bend, WA

Not far from Snoqualmie. On the harder side of intermediate. Best bang for your buck with a short driving distance from Seattle or Snoqualmie. It's totally worth it with gorgeous views of an alpine lake. Come with a towel if you'd like to do a polar plunge! This hike gets VERY CROWDED, so weekdays are ideal. Medium-intermediate 7.2 miles roundtrip 1800 ft elevation gain

Franklin FallsFranklin Falls

North Bend, WA

This is another option if you're looking for an escape into nature close to Snoqualmie. Short & mostly flat. Easy 2.0 miles roundtrip 400 ft elevation gain

Melakwa LakeMelakwa Lake

North Bend, WA

This is very close to Snoqualmie as well. This is a good fit for those looking for a challenge. You'll be rewarded with two beautiful alpine lakes at the end. Take a dip if you dare! Hard-intermediate 8.5 miles roundtrip 2,700 feet elevation gain

Skyline Trail at ParadiseSkyline Trail at Paradise

Mt Rainier National Park, WA

Probably one of the best hikes if you're willing to trek all the way to Mt. Rainier. As the name suggests, this place truly feels like Paradise! Be prepared to possibly wait in line to enter the national park if you don't get there early (before 8am) or late (around 2pm). Weekends are busy regardless of the time you arrive. Personal recommendation: go counter clockwise, turn around at Panorama Point. This one's steep but worth every step. There are 360 views out here. Medium-Intermediate 5.5 miles roundtrip 1,450 feet elevation gain Note: Aarica volunteered here to help create a new side trail with the Washington Trails Association!

Fremont LookoutFremont Lookout

Mt Rainier National Park, WA

This is the Sunrise side of Mt Rainier and offers gorgeous views of sunrise and sunset. Also incredible during the day. You can often spot mountain goat, pika, and deer here. This trail is also VERY CROWDED. Medium-Intermediate 5.6 miles roundtrip 1,200 feet elevation gain

Heybrook RidgeHeybrook Ridge

Index, WA

If you want to try out a new hike that's not too far from Snoqualmie, recommend driving up here. You're rewarded with beautiful views at the top. Easy-Intermediate 3.3 miles roundtrip 775 feet elevation gain

Artist Point / Chain Lakes LoopArtist Point / Chain Lakes Loop

Mt Baker, WA

If you're up for a longer drive up to Mt Baker, this is one of our favourite hikes up there. Troy and Aarica have been backpacking here every fall since we met and it's become our very own tradition. We'd recommend going counterclockwise if you park at Heather Meadows, so you don't end the hike with a big uphill section. If you don't feel like hiking, simply park and picnic at Artist Point and you'll have gorgeous views of all the peaks surrounding you. Harder side of intermediate (hike) or very easy (park and picnic) 6.5 miles roundtrip 1,820 feet elevation gain
