Expect a big fat Indian fusion wedding! If you’d like to wear traditional Indian clothing, we'd LOVE that—but it’s absolutely not required. For non-Indian wear, the dress code is colourful black tie optional (see below). Amazon and Etsy have options of Indian outfits (sherwani for men and lehenga/saree for women, for example). For guests in the Seattle area, these are two stores to try in person —Colors of Redmond and Sakkhi Style.
We want our guests to feel fancy, but festive! We invite you to wear formal attire, but don't be afraid to add a splash of colour if you'd like.
Get there early! You’ll want time to grab a beverage and find your seat before we kick things off with the "baraat" — an upbeat procession to escort Troy to the ceremony. If you are coming from Troy's side, you are going to be a part of the Baraat (no preparation needed, we'll guide you)! If you are coming from Aarica's side, you'll be joining her family in welcoming the Baraat so don't be late!
Yes—there’s plenty of parking. But since we invited quite a few of our favorite people, it may take a few minutes to find your perfect spot.
Hindu wedding ceremonies include several meaningful rituals that symbolize unity, commitment, and family blessings. The ceremony may be a little longer than a typical Western ceremony, but we promise it’s beautiful and worth it.
Yes! We’ll provide a brief guide so everyone can follow along.
Troy's dad always reminds us of Washington Huskies coach Don James' philosophy "On time is late, early is on time." If you’re late, please wait for a pause before entering.
Yes! There will be a welcome drink upon arrival. There will be cocktails, mocktails, and hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by a plated dinner and an open bar. We fully intend to prevent any cases of “hangry." But if you're anything like Aarica and eat like a hobbit, we recommend you eat Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses, and a heavy Luncheon before coming!
