Summer is my best friend of 10+ years. We met during our 7th grade year when I was caught skipping my lunch period to attend the other! Summer is quick-witted and full of personality. She has brought so much laughter into my life. She has been there for every up, down, good, bad, and ugly moment. She has been the shoulder I cry on and the tough love I needed on my weak days. Some of my fondest memories with Summer are driving for hours during the summer, blasting music. We never have a destination. I will always cherish our late night Omegle chats and blindfolded makeup challenges. There is no one in this world that I could imagine standing beside me at the alter. ESPAÑOL: El verano es mi mejor amigo desde hace más de 10 años. ¡Nos conocimos durante nuestro año de séptimo grado cuando me sorprendieron saltándome mi período de almuerzo para asistir al otro! El verano es ingenioso y lleno de personalidad. Ella ha traído tantas risas a mi vida. Ella ha estado allí para cada momento bueno, malo y feo. Ella ha sido el hombro sobre el que lloro y el amor duro que necesitaba en mis días débiles. Algunos de mis mejores recuerdos con Summer son conducir durante horas durante el verano, escuchando música a todo volumen. Nunca tenemos un destino. Siempre apreciaré nuestras charlas nocturnas de Omegle y los desafíos de maquillaje con los ojos vendados. No hay nadie en este mundo que pueda imaginar parado a mi lado en el altar.

Averee is my cousin, but I have always considered her a sister. We are only a mere 12 days apart (and I’m the oldest)! Averee and I spent most of our childhood together. Countless days spent at our aunt Marti’s playing ninjas and swimming just to end the nights with a weenie roast and four wheel rides. When we were younger, Averee and her family moved to Tennessee and despite the distance, we have remained just as close. Averee is such an important person and role model to me. There’s never been a doubt in my mind about asking her to join me on my wedding day! ESPAÑOL: Averee es mi prima, pero siempre la he considerado una hermana. ¡Tenemos solo 12 días de diferencia (y yo soy el mayor)! Averee y yo pasamos la mayor parte de nuestra infancia juntos. Innumerables días pasados en casa de nuestra tía Martí jugando a los ninjas y nadando solo para terminar las noches con un asado de salchicha y paseos en cuatro ruedas. Cuando éramos más jóvenes, Averee y su familia se mudaron a Tennessee y, a pesar de la distancia, hemos permanecido igual de unidos. Averee es una persona muy importante y un modelo a seguir para mí. ¡Nunca ha habido ninguna duda en mi mente acerca de pedirle que me acompañe el día de mi boda!

Tamera is my niece and the one who made me an aunt! She brings SO much happiness into my life. Tamera is my driving force in wanting to strive to be successful. Since becoming an aunt at the tiny age of 8, I have taken the responsibility seriously. All I could hope for is that I am a mentor and person that Tamera can trust and confide in. My heart swells with love for her and her brothers and I can only hope the recognize that. Tamera and I spend our time together bonding over our love of Korean pop music and recently, RuPauls Drag Race. There is no way I could ever marry without such an important person beside me ESPAÑOL: ¡Tamera es mi sobrina y la que me hizo tía! Ella trae tanta felicidad a mi vida. Tamera es mi fuerza motriz en querer esforzarme para tener éxito. Desde que me convertí en tía a la pequeña edad de 8 años, me he tomado la responsabilidad en serio. Todo lo que puedo esperar es que soy un mentor y una persona en la que Tamera puede confiar. Mi corazón se llena de amor por ella y sus hermanos y solo espero que reconozcan eso. Tamera y yo pasamos nuestro tiempo juntos vinculándonos por nuestro amor por la música pop coreana y recientemente, RuPauls Drag Race. No hay forma de que pueda casarme sin una persona tan importante a mi lado.
Kyra Scott

Kyra and I became friends during our 7th grade year in Mrs. Helmicks math class. We grew such a tight-knit friendship and so many of my middle school day memories have Kyra involved! From trying prom dresses and Spider-Man hats on at the mall to movie nights and kpop “try not to laugh” marathons, Kyra has remained one of my closest and best friends. Our friendship has never faltered and judgement has never been cast. My day wouldn’t feel complete without Kyra! ESPAÑOL: Kyra y yo nos hicimos amigos durante nuestro año de séptimo grado en la clase de matemáticas de la Sra. Helmicks. Crecimos una amistad muy unida y ¡muchos de mis recuerdos del día de la escuela secundaria tienen a Kyra involucrada! Desde probarse vestidos de graduación y sombreros de Spider-Man en el centro comercial hasta noches de movimiento y maratones de kpop "trata de no reírte", Kyra sigue siendo una de mis mejores y más cercanas amigas. Nuestra amistad nunca ha flaqueado y nunca se ha emitido un juicio. ¡Mi día no se sentiría completo sin Kyra!
Ruth Romero

Ruth is my older sibling. She lovingly addresses me as "Sari, daughter or sister." My sister has always taken good care of me and made sure I succeed in school and at home. I was a troublemaker when we were kids because I enjoyed hanging out with other people at school and neighborhood. Our relationship was somewhat different as a result of the joyful and sad family effects we experienced as teenagers, but the Romero family bond was still stronger than ever. Additionally, Teresa, our younger sister, needed our love, so I attempted to give her the same love and care that my sister had given me. Ruth and I are now adults, and my sister is a wonderful mother and counselor to me. I also have a beautiful and perfect niece named Kiki. (nickname). Romero is what unites us as hermanitas 4ever and ever.
Julio

My first year away from my native country, Peru, was difficult but also enjoyable because I came across wonderful people like Julio. We met at the University of South Florida bus station because we were both going to the same Movie Night college event. We started talking about our country, Peru. Julio had become my go-to person whenever I was homesick since that day. I knew he had been in similar situations as a foreign student, and our college experiences are truly unforgettable; for example, we used to go out every weekend to party and then walk back! or go to the beach with some friends and get sunburned, or simply bug our lovely friend Briggite. Bri, we love you; please be patient with us. It was difficult to leave Florida because I met you two, but I visit whenever I can. Foreva and eva, my Florida family.

Mi estimada Amix, mi Lizzie. Si lees esto, no llores por favor, contrólate. Ay, me acuerdo cuando nos conocimos con las otras amixes en el Manchester University Latinx evento. Yo con mi roomie y tu con tu roomie y al final que nos abandonan jajaja. No sé, como comenzó nuestra pura hermandad entre tú y yo, pero nos llevamos tan bien como si nos conocieron de antes, hablamos como si no hubiera pasado nada de tiempo entre las dos y las risas que nunca faltan.¿Te acuerdas nos llevamos todas las comidas al cuarto o al Science center? Munchies con lala, Moe, Eli y Naomi. Y el drama por doquier, diomio. ¿Pero qué cosas no hemos pasado? Es la mejor pregunta. Siempre has estado ahí conmigo si no me sentía bien tu estas ahí yo también para ti porque no somos amigas or bestie óseaaaa. Nosotras somos Amix, otro nivel, pura hermandad inquebrantable, no hay así no más. ¡Me esperas en Austin porque yo me quiero comer todos los tacos de carne asada con bastante limón y poquito de ají picante jajajaja gracias por ens ñarme a amar los tacos! Luego ampliare mas mis gustos por la comida Mexicana porque nos pasearemos por ahí, por ahí. Espero haberte sacado unas sonrisas Amix y te vere, y espero Naomi y lala, ¡en mi celebración de bodas!

Jihane is the most caring and supportive friend, and I will always remember her for that. During the COVID pandemic 2020, I actively volunteered at local food pantries and the Volunteers of America (VOA) retail store. At VOA, I met Jihane and great friends, and there was always laughter and jokes. I remember spending time at our multicultural table for lunch and talking about our traditions and families. Jiji, as we used to call her, is from Morocco, and because she is my age, we had a lot in common. Three years ago, we both had great goals and wanted the best for our families. I see she has been working hard to achieve her objectives. Every time we get together, I am proud of what we have accomplished in only three years. I'm very proud of her. All of her efforts are visible in her life. On this special day of my life, I am overjoyed to have her as a close friend and sister. Thank you, Sister Jihane, and let's keep moving forward.
