Sara and I met on a dating app called “Bumble”. Although neither of us were looking for a relationship at the time, we couldn’t deny what destiny had in store. Sara, at the time was living in Cleveland. If you’re not familiar with dating apps, then you wouldn’t know that there is a set radius to people you can connect with. The one night that Sara was in Columbus visiting family, I happened to download the application. Over the course of several months and getting to know each other, virtually, we finally decided to meet. After a lot of convincing on Sara’s part - and several hours of me procrastinating, I finally gave Sara my address. After what felt like the longest two and a half hours, we finally met! Both shy, we spent the night watching television and talking. Ending the night watching my latest infatuation, Encanto. Once, in English. The second, in Spanish.
Sara tried hard to propose to me at a special location. I am reluctant to admit I may have deterred her from this as I was as suspicious as I was anxious. One weekend while my mom, Valerie, came over to visit, Sara decided to propose to me in the comfort of my home with my mom beside me. In my pajamas and unbrushed hair, I replied with the easiest “yes” I’ve ever given.
