Sacramento is a pleasant and easy 2 hr drive from Sonoma. Utilizing SMF is our recommendation. There are rental services at the airport, as well as taxis and shuttle vans to Davis.

While Sacramento is our recommended airport for ease of access and reliable service, you may consider San Francisco as a somewhat closer and more comprehensive airline hub. Let it be known that driving through the city to go north towards wine country will take about the same amount of time - with the added stress of driving through a major metropolis.
