Melissa first got to know Josh's family through his half-sister, Meghan. Throughout high school, Meg and Mel spent much of their time together at the Jurak home in Morris. Melissa's longest friend, Meg married her true love, Matthew, in September of 2022. There we began flirting and quickly fell for one another. Their relationship was off to an unusual start, Josh living 5 hours away (time zone hours...), but luckily, he moved only a 10-hour drive away after a few months of dating! Melissa was completing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the time, they would visit each other every chance they got, or sit on the phone for hours on end every night talking about silly dreams together. The couple moved into their home in Maryland together with the couple's best friend lil' meow meow, barn door, banby, (Melissa's cat Brandy).
