Both the ceremony and reception will be held at Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton, CA. (Yes, this is a real railroad and we will be taking a train ride)
Cocktail or Formal attire, you pick which you're most comfortable in :) Please continue reading for details about footwear needed. When arriving at Roaring Camp you will notice the parking lot and path to the train depot/welcome area are not paved and so can become muddy after rain or any type of wet weather. Additionally, the ceremony will be standing only and taking place on natural ground cover (think dirt and tree roots). It will require walking down, then back up an uneven slope and stepping up and down off a train, so please keep all this in mind when selecting footwear! Since shoes great for the forest and mud don't necessarily go great with suits and cocktail dresses, there will ve an area at the hall to leave reception shoes prior to boarding the train for the ceremony. This way, guests may change shoes after we all arrive back for cocktail hour. Also, please bring something warm for the train ride as it can be chilly even on warm days. Should you so choose, you will be able to leave it in your seat on the train during the ceremony as the train will be parked for the duration.
Short answer: No. While we would love to include everyone's children, we have chosen to have an adults only wedding and reception. Only children participating in the ceremony will be in attendance. We respectfully request you take the night off and leave your little ones at home :)
Short answer: No Due to venue limitations, we are unable to accommodate plus ones unless otherwise named on the invitation. Thank you for understanding!
Short answer: No! Please please, just no. We ask that all cell phones remain in pockets and purses during our ceremony. Not only are they a distraction but they also block other guests' views (not to mention our amazing photographers). If you feel you are a screen addict and may not be able to resist, phones can be safely left on the train since we don't anticipate any robber bandits riding through that day.
Short answer: absolutely not :) Thank you for asking! The answer is, absolutely NO outside alcohol is allowed due to our venue's liquor license. If liquor is found on the premises, best case you will be asked to leave. Worst case, our entire wedding will be CANCELED. If you really want to be that guy please RSVP no and we will happily share where to meet us for the after party :)
No, it is standing only. The ceremony will take place in a cathedral grove of California Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens- Amanda is a nerrrrddd). Since we will be in the middle of one of nature's most miraculous species, no seating will be available and the ceremony will be standing only. Don't worry, it will be short! The ceremony, not the trees. The trees are really really tall. Tallest species of tree on earth, in fact! (again, nerd.) Please let us know if you anticipate not being able to stand or have mobility needs.
While we wish we could tell you the most likely weather forcast, this is the Bay Area in spring time (very early spring. Literally the 2nd day. So still sort of winter but not technically). Should inclement weather occur, there are backup plans in place. That being said, a little rain won't stop us! Please ensure you are checking the weather for Felton, CA leading up to the day and plan accordingly. (Though we ask for no umbrellas at the ceremony as that will obstruct the view for others). We will also be sending out a reminder text with a weather report a day or two before the wedding.
The is a large parking lot at Roaring Camp where both the ceremony and reception will be held. Please tell the parking attendant you are here for a wedding and parking will be free.
The ceremony will be outside under the redwoods and will be reached via steam train. Should rain be a possibility, the train cars will have covers. The reception will take place in a large hall with an attached outdoor grassy area.
We will be booking room blocks at the Hotel Paradox and Hyatt in Santa Cruz (6 miles away) and The Hilton Scotts Valley (4 miles away). Booking codes will be posted in the travel section of our website. There also plenty of Airbnb and VRBO options in the area.
We are so so sorry, but due to venue limitations and vendor requirements, we are not able to accept any RSVPs after February 1st. We'll be sorry to miss you! If you are reading this beforehand, please make sure you RSVP by February 1st. RSVP with no answer on Zola defaults to a "not attending" status on the guest list.
