Karen moved from Philippines with her Mom Carlina & Brother Kevin in February 1997. They joined her Dad Fidel and the rest of the Ubaldo Family at their new home on ANCHOR DRIVE. Little did she know she would soon meet her future husband Jeff who happened to be her next door neighbor along with his family Rey, Maribel, Kristine and Joanna. Karen and Jeff grew up next door to each other and did many activities together along with Jeff's sisters and all of Karen's cousins. Activities ranged from biking around the trails, skating around the block, basketball in Jeff's backyard, school with the younger kids, and so many more! Karen and Jeff both attended Riverview Middle School and Mount Diablo High School together which meant they shared many of the same friends, and have attended many events together. Karen and Jeff also attended Delta Baptist Church growing up and still do up to this date. Although they grew up together, they never saw each other as more than friends until they were older. As time passed and both Karen and Jeff grew up in their own ways and their paths crossed once again. As they talked more about what they envisioned their futures to be like, they both began to realize just how much they both envisioned very similar futures and that they both enjoyed each other's company. The beginning of Karen and Jeff's relationship started off quietly without very much people knowing since they weren't sure of how everything would turn out. But as the days passed, they both have fallen more for each other and more reassured that God had a greater plan for their relationship. Over the past 8 years together we have shared so many special moments both filled with laughter and some tears along the way. And here we are soon to celebrate #2cornballstietheknot!
So many times as the years have passed, people kept asking us "When are you guys going to get married?" and to that Karen and Jeff would laugh and say I'm not sure yet. But the time finally came and the wait was over on September 15, 2019 in Mauna Kea at the Big Island of Hawaii! (Karen side) It was our last full day in Hawaii before going home the next morning. In my head when I woke up I thought to myself, "I'll just enjoy being in Hawaii, it's our last day and if he hasn't asked me yet then this is not the time." So all day I didn't really expect anything to happen, just going with the flow. We had a tour of Mauna Kea set for the evening on Hawaii's highest point for stargazing with a group. When we were leaving for the tour there was alot of traffic and Jeff was super irritated thinking we will miss it (I had no idea why he was so irritated because he's usually super laid back). We finally made it to the meet up area and were waiting to board the van. The whole ride he was just acting very quiet and I was just thinking maybe he's tired or not feeling well in the car. Once we arrived up at the highest peak, and before the sunset, the tour guide offered to take pictures for people and I told him we should go before everyone goes to take a picture. Handed my phone to him without thinking anything of it. We posed for a normal picture and the tour guide then said okay another pose, I didn't know what to do so I copied Jeff with our hands up, and the tour guide kept taking pictures but little did I know Jeff was already down on one knee. Jeff said "Darling, turn to me" and that's when I realized what was happening. Jeff then said "Darling, will you be my wife". It took me a minute to figure out what was going on, and of course the tears started to fall and I said "YES!" After being together for 8 years this was a moment I've always dreamt about. I didn't see it coming at that moment but everything was perfect- Perfect timing, perfect place, and the perfect moment.
We decided on a Nautical themed wedding because we both grew up next door to each other on ANCHOR DRIVE. We also love anything and everything nautical, we love the beach, and the color navy blue. We decided to make that part of our special day as we celebrate at the perfect nautical venue- The Lighthouse.
#Twocornballs was the name Jeff's sister Kristine made up to describe us early on in our relationship because we did a lot of corny things for each other. We liked it and it has stuck with us through the years and we use it to tag all our photos on instagram.
