Dave messaged Caitlin for the first time on June 5th, 2021, which happened to be Caitlin’s birthday! After a few days, they met up for coffee/tea at 918 Coffee and immediately hit it off. They closed down the coffee shop, and at this time Dave found out about Caitlin’s only fault. She doesn’t like coffee! Caitlin saw many of Dave’s numerous faults, especially his awkwardness, as Dave was incredibly awkward at the end of the date. Caitlin told Dave how she’d had a great time and hoped they could meet up again. Dave, quite smoothly, told her, “Yeah, have a good night,” then got in his car. After another great date (this time at The Gathering Place) and another awkward goodbye, they finally managed to say a proper goodbye at the end of the third date, a bowling excursion. Caitlin and Dave spent the next year going on adventures like visiting museums, attending murder mystery dinners, attending festivals, and seeing several musicals. In the summer of 2022, Dave started looking at engagement rings, and he bought a ring in August. After a month of waiting for the ring to arrive (it shipped all the way from Israel and encountered several delays along the way), it showed up on September 14th while Caitlin was out of town. Dave was very impatient. On September 20th, Caitlin and Dave went to the Tulsa Rose Garden at Woodward Park, and on a lovely Oklahoma September day (complete with 99 degree heat) the proposal happened. Dave’s plan was to have a picnic, but that wasn’t an option with the heat, so after finding the perfect spot (roses, fountains, and not too much sun), Dave told Caitlin how much he loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He got down on one knee, asked Caitlin to marry him, and she responded, “It has a light!” The fancy ring box had a display light! After remarking on the light, Caitlin said yes, and the newly engaged couple took some pictures and then headed to Albert G’s for air conditioning and fantastic barbecue. They went back to Caitlin’s house after and informed Rowena of the news. Rowena very enthusiastically welcomed Dave into the family. Author’s Note: We’re so excited to have you at our wedding!
