Founded in 1905 by Ben Schrader and a group of local tavern owners and grocers, the original Falls City was formed to fight a big beer takeover in Louisville. In 1906, Otto Doerr was hired as our first brew master and our beer soon began appearing in local taverns. Shortly thereafter, a bottling plant was added and Falls City became one of the most popular breweries in Louisville, KY. The Falls City Beer Taproom in the NuLu neighborhood recently underwent transformation as PARLOUR steps in for a collaborative restaurant venture. The partnership highlights the shared commitment to quality and community between Falls City Beer and PARLOUR. Falls City Beer has been a popular choice at PARLOUR restaurants, and this venture represents a natural progression of the successful relationship between the two establishments.

Venue rental typically accounts for 18% of your total budget, or roughly $5,693 for a 100-guest event. Based on Zola marketplace data, venue starting prices in Louisville range from $500–$5,000, with a median of $1,000. Your remaining budget splits across catering ($4,555), florists ($4,441), bar services ($3,644), photography ($2,588), videography ($2,112), and attire ($1,832).

Louisville venues span two main capacity tiers. Medium venues (51–150 guests) average starting prices from $662, ideal if you're planning an intimate to mid-sized celebration. Large venues (150+ guests) start around $3,670 and work best for grand affairs.
Here's how budget scales with guest count (per the Zola Wedding Cost Index):
- 50 guests: $14,800–$22,200
- 100 guests: $24,800–$37,300
- 150 guests: $34,300–$51,400
- 200 guests: $42,700–$64,100
- 300 guests: $59,500–$89,300

Louisville's top-rated venues consistently impress couples and their guests. West Sixth Nulu The Lounge & Marketplace Hall earns a 5.0/5 rating and is praised for its stunning natural aesthetic: one guest raved, "The space is beautiful on its own and does not need a lot of [additional décor]."
PARLOUR Downtown starts from $500 and has a 5.0/5 rating, with guests highlighting the spacious layout and exceptional staff—perfect for 75-person celebrations.
PARLOUR Nulu//Falls City Beer starts from $300 and shares the same stellar 5.0/5 rating. The brewery atmosphere creates an electric vibe that photographs beautifully, according to vendors.
Each reflects Louisville's eclectic personality, from urban warehouses to craft-focused spaces.
Yes—Downtown Louisville and adjacent neighborhoods like NuLu, Highlands, and Butchertown host excellent venues within walking distance of each other. This clustering is ideal for guests who want to hotel-hop or explore Louisville's thriving food and bar scene.
PARLOUR Downtown sits in the heart of the action, starting from $500, while PARLOUR Nulu//Falls City Beer ($300+) anchors the neighboring NuLu district—a hip, walkable corridor of galleries, shops, and restaurants.
Downtown's proximity to the Ohio River and Louisville Waterfront Park means stunning ceremony and photo backdrops. Historic mansions and garden venues in nearby Crescent Hill add variety. The dense venue network makes it easy to compare options and negotiate group hotel rates for out-of-town guests.
Spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) are ideal for Louisville weddings. Spring offers mild temperatures and blooming gardens across the city's parks, while fall delivers crisp weather, stunning foliage, and lower humidity—perfect for outdoor ceremonies and photography without guests wilting in summer heat.
Winter and early summer are quieter seasons; venues often offer 20–30% discounts during off-peak months (November–March, July–August), which can meaningfully reduce your total venue cost. The trade-off: peak-season venues book 6–12 months in advance, while off-peak slots may fill only 2–4 months out.
If budget is your priority, consider a winter wedding near the holidays or a July celebration when many Louisville couples avoid scheduling. You'll have better venue availability, lower pricing, and potentially negotiating power with vendors eager for bookings.
Louisville offers strong value compared to national benchmarks. The 100-guest median cost of $24,800–$37,300 sits close to the national median of $25,000, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index survey. However, Louisville is notably more affordable than the metro average of $50,098, suggesting couples here benefit from lower-than-average venue and catering costs.
Based on Zola marketplace data, Louisville's median venue starting price is $1,000—significantly lower than many metro areas. Venue and catering combined account for 41% of wedding budgets nationally, but in Louisville, savvy couples can stretch further with affordable spaces like PARLOUR venues starting from $300–$500.
If you're choosing between Louisville and pricier urban markets, you're in a good position to allocate more budget toward photography, florals, or entertainment without breaking the bank. Louisville's growing craft and hospitality scene also means competitive pricing from vendors across all categories.
We recommend booking your Louisville venue 12–18 months in advance, especially if you're planning a wedding during peak season (May through October). Louisville's most popular venues fill quickly during these months, and you'll have significantly more options if you secure your space early.
If you're planning a winter or early spring wedding, you may have more flexibility and could book 6–9 months ahead. Once you've locked in your venue, you can confidently plan the rest of your celebration—catering, photography, and florals typically follow. Starting your search now gives you time to compare options and negotiate, rather than settling for limited availability at the last minute.
Louisville's wedding venues are scattered across distinctive neighborhoods, each with its own character:
- NuLu (pronounced "New Louisville") is trendy and urban, perfect for modern, artistic celebrations with exposed brick and industrial-chic backdrops.
- The Highlands offer tree-lined streets, upscale venues, and a vibrant restaurant and bar scene nearby for rehearsal dinners and guest entertainment.
- Crescent Hill provides a charming, historic residential feel with elegant estates and classic architecture ideal for traditional celebrations.
- Butchertown combines emerging urban cool with warehouse-style spaces and craft brewery vibes for creative couples.
- The Waterfront along the Ohio River delivers scenic views and outdoor ceremony options with Louisville's natural beauty as your backdrop.
Each neighborhood has its own personality—choose based on your wedding style and guest experience priorities.
