The Monarch sideboard is handcrafted using centuries-old techniques in a modern way. Rare lengths of solid walnut chosen for their beautiful cathedral graining, are united with traditional Chinese joinery without the use of nails or screws. Monarch’s full-length planks are assembled with wood-on-wood joinery techniques that respect the living nature of the wood, allowing it to expand and contract with seasonal changes in humidity. Beautifully precise mitered corners with exposed dovetail joinery, a beveled top edge and floating slab base evidence the exemplary craftsmanship that goes into this organic modern sideboard. Designed with a harmony of space and light, two open display shelves each top a set of doors with blackened steel pulls which open to reveal storage compartments with one adjustable shelf each. Monarch’s unique shiitake finish, a subtle blend of browns and greys, creates a fresh neutral tone that mixes well with other wood finishes. A special water-based topcoat is entertaining-friendly with stain- and heat- resistant qualities.
