Four-hundred twenty-five days and three and a half hours since the last time I stepped on a field to play ultimate, I arrived at the IMA on a warm evening in May for the first Element practice of the season. Having graduated in 2020, I spent over a year without a team and largely without ultimate, spending my days looking at the discs I have hung up on my wall and wondering if I would ever get a chance to play again. When we began warmups and the first drills, it was like taking a breath of fresh air. Over the course of our season, the genuine care the teammates hold for each other, the effort put in at practice, and the commitment of the coaches has created a space where I am excited each and every day to head out into the rainy, dark night for practice; the long wait to get back to paying has been worth it by far. We thank any contributions which help us showcase the work and love that has been invested into this season at Nationals!
