It's been said that the French word gastronomique (relating to skillful cooking and the enjoyment of good food) originated in Alsace, the wine-famed borderland lying west of France's Voges mountains and east of Germany's Rhine river. Alsace is also the origin of some of France's best white wines, and home to a hefty handful of Michelin Star restaurants. Couple this with a roadtrip through the fairytale French towns dotting the Route du Vin and a side trip to Germany's Black Forest, and you have our ideal honeymoon.
