Throughout our lives, we've had the privilege of living near Lake Michigan, and it hasn't been until recently that we've taken time to realize how important of a resource it is to the Midwest. We’re headed to Iceland for our honeymoon and will be doing our own roadtrip around the island with local experiences throughout. We’re ending our adventure with a couple days in Amsterdam. We can’t wait!

Iceland's capital - this is where we'll start our trip! To quote the great Rick Steves, "Reykjavík is a worthwhile sightseeing destination in its own right. Its colorful, pedestrian-friendly downtown has fine museums, a stroll-worthy harbor, and a dozen thermal swimming pools, perfect for a rejuvenating soak among Icelanders. For this experience, we'll be riding along hills and mountains nearby Skálakot towards the Iráfoss waterfall, a beautiful 30 meters high waterfall.

We'll be exploring an ice cave located under the Kötlujökull, one of the tongues of Mýrdalsjökull, which is one of the most famous glaciers in Iceland. After a super jeep approach, we'll enter the heart of the glacier between gigantic walls of ice. Visiting an ice cave is a magical experience (so we're told) and a unique opportunity to see in action the dynamic forces that shape Icelandic nature.

*In best Spongebob narrator voice* AH, GOO LAGOON.In all seriousness, The Blue Lagoon is one of the main highlights of our trip. It is one of Iceland's most popular attractions, and it's little wonder as to why. The beautiful milky-blue water is unlike anything else found on earth and starkly contrasts with the surrounding black lava fields and creeping gray moss. The temperature of the Blue Lagoon is a consistent 102 F year-round, making it the perfect bathing temperature.
