Do we know where, when, or how? Not exactly, but one-day we hope to own a home and have y'all over for dinner.

San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the business -and it supports our local and coastal sage scrub and chaparral wildlife. Our favorite parts are the walk-in aviaries, especially the bee-eater birds in the Africa Rocks area, watching baby animals grow up and join other zoo's conservation programs, and just enjoying walking around this recognized botanical garden.

Sarah got in to birding via this organization's Beginning Birding course! We volunteer with this organization doing habitat restoration, conducting a bird census at the Christmas Bird Count, welcoming birders from around the world at the local bird festival, and enjoying it's quarterly magazine.

The Nat is the cornerstone of our San Diego experience, as you will see at our wedding! Membership supports the Nat's work conserving our region and connecting people to nature- including via Sarah's volunteer position with the Canyoneers! The Nat also hosts monthly talks, cool documentaries on the big screen, and Friday night themed parties.

The only downside to our honeymoon is those we leave behind :(. We love our catsitter Aria - as anyone who has every had the privilege of meeting Percy and Reishi knows- it's a lot of work to keep these hungry boys happy and not escaped.

Does anything saw romance like staking out weird looking bird on a misty mountain morning? We are going to head to higher elevations to try to see some birds endemic to Taiwan - including the Taiwanese national bird -the Swinhoe's Pheasant.

We've become real snorkeling fiends since moving to San Diego. We once even backpacked our wetsuits onto a gull-infested rock in the middle of the ocean so we can snorkel off the landing dock. Snorkeling off Taiwan's green island sounds a lot more tropical and chill-plus there might be sea kraits (snakes) (?!)

As anyone who has seen Scott's fiddle leaf fig already knows, Scott is the green thumb in the relationship, Sarah just gets to enjoy the foliage. Our sunny porch is part jungle, part native plant sanctuary, part (semi-dangerous) cactus desert, but we are always looking to add more to the collection.

Despite our best efforts, all our plants seem to turn into catnip! Always adding to our collection (catnip included)

Dasyueshan is one of Taiwans high elevation mountain forests, with beautiful trees, mountain sunrises/sunsets, and a peaceful vibe. AND ALSO apparently the best way to see Taiwans' nocturnal flying squirrels and serow (a small, goat-like bovid?!), if you spend the night. What exactly is a Serow? We'll let you know if we find out.

Our snorkeling destination off Taiwan's east coast- we can't wait to explore the tropical reefs....and relax in Zhaori hot springs, one of only three seawater hot springs in the world? Also they sell eggs so you can boil your own egg in the hot spring?
