Addiction affects families across all economic, religious, and ethnic groups. It impacts all of us and can tear a family apart. Many of the children and families served by the National CASA Association’s network of programs around the country have been impacted by substance abuse.This fund is named in memory of Joseph Martin Nunn, who was a doctoral student in Marine Biology when he died of a heroin overdose in 1999. Joe had loved deep sea fishing since he was a child and his passion for the sea led to his college studies. His mother, National CASA's Diane Nunn, established the fund in Joe’s honor in 2017 to help families overcome barriers to reunification or prevent the removal of children from their home.
