Schuyler Arakawa touches the life of every person who meets her, as she touched mine seven years ago. I've never had a friend so wholly accepting of others and so willing to dedicate her spirit to helping women, both across the globe and across the street. After we graduated from college, Schuyler was critically injured while traveling abroad. In addition to fighting through an exhausting schedule of physical therapy, she's been fighting to get full benefits from Florida to meet her new needs (including making her home adapted to a wheelchair, getting full SSI, etc.). Over the course of this year, Schuyler has been placed on a long term care waiting list, and I have been working on a Special Needs Trust for Schuyler's benefit to help manage the gifts given to her (and to make sure they weren't being counted against her for benefits purposes). It would mean so much to me if you would consider supporting Schuyler in lieu of a traditional wedding gift. Our disclaimer: all gifts to her are gifts for purposes of the gift tax! Thank you all! We can't wait to celebrate with you. Sincerely, Kate
