Why we chose the Mayan Riviera as our honeymoon destination: the coastline Eden called the Riviera Maya stretches from Cancun to the only Mayan seaside city, Tulum. Low tropical jungles and wonderful towns, both big and small, dot the landscape of the Yucatan Peninsula’s Easternmost edge. Highlights include: ecological parks and preserves, Mayan ruins and sites, pristine white sand beaches, countless exotic animals, rare plants and an endless supply of activities, including snorkeling, zip-lining, kayaking, cave diving***, & hiking. On this tour of the Tulum Monkey Sanctuary (http://www.tulummonkeysanctuary.com/), we'll get to see Spider Monkeys frolic in their natural environment, while hiking along jungle trails. If we're feeling especially brave, we'll walk across the 150 ft. long suspension bridge.

We'll get to ride on zip-lines, explore a Mayan village, AND swim in underground cenotes (pictured here). We chose this park because 30% of the entrance fee goes directly to support the sustainability of the local Mayan villages.

Chichen Itza, the ancient capital of the Mayan Empire, is arguably the most important archaeological zone in the Yucatan. Recently designated as one of the modern wonders of the world, Chichen Itza is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
