In 2018, we lost our cat Sonny to the terrible disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is a mutation of the Feline Corona Virus, and sits dormant in most cats, never affecting them. For about 1 in 300 cats, the virus mutates into FIP, which is 100% deadly. At UC Davis in California, they have been working tirelessly to find a cure to this horrible disease. They are close to approving a treatment (which is very similar to the COVID-19 treatment Remdesivir) to be accessible to veterinarians and hopefully save the lives of many cats. This treatment was in its testing phase while Sonny was sick, and we unfortunately could not get it to him. We don't want any more cats or their owners to go through what we and Sonny went through. Please help support UC Davis Veterinary School and SOCK FIP (Saving Our Cats and Kittens from FIP) in memory of our little guy. We miss him and we appreciate your support for finding and widely distributing a cure for FIP! #SOCKFIP Donate here on Zola, or at sockfip.org
