A ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn, known for its peaceful atmosphere, tatami mat rooms, and incredible hospitality. We’ll be spending a romantic night in one, complete with a multi-course kaiseki dinner and our own private onsen—a natural hot spring bath. After days of walking, exploring, and sushi-eating, this will be the perfect way to relax, recharge, and soak in one of Japan’s most special experiences—literally!

After all the walking (and eating), we can’t wait to unwind with a relaxing massage and a little quiet time together.

We’ve watched so many videos of this epic charcoal-grilled dinner and can’t wait to try it for ourselves. Think wagyu, seafood, and chefs serving it on giant paddles—so fun, so Japan!

Sumo is such a big part of Japanese culture, and we’re excited to see it in person—whether it’s a match or a morning practice, it’s something we don’t want to miss.

This old-fashioned train winds through the mountains and river gorge just outside Kyoto. We’ll ride through bamboo forests and cherry blossoms in an open-air car, taking in some of the most beautiful scenery of our trip—slow, peaceful, and perfectly romantic.

We’re going to miss Hudson so much while we’re away, so this café full of friendly goldens is the perfect dose of home (plus coffee and cuddles).
