We are becoming quite the beer connoisseurs, and can't miss this gem in Dublin! A 15 minute walk from our hostel, we will be taking a tour of the Guinness Storehouse that wraps up with a genuine Irish Guinness on the house.

We planned to take a relaxing ferry to Liverpool and then ride the train down through Salisbury to see Stonehenge and then up to London for our next big city stay, but we grossly underestimated travel time. Now, we are going to hop over from Dublin to London on a RyanAir Boeing 747!

Scenic tour to Stonehenge and the new visitor centre exhibition. The most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and now a world heritage site, Stonehenge stands alone in the vast empty tract of Salisbury plain. Its origins date back nearly 5,000 years and it has been home to pagan religion and spiritual worship, not to be mention public debate ever since. What was this vast collection of stones intended for? Was it observatory of the moon, a temple to the sun, or an elaborate cemetery? Who were the people who carried and carved these 40 ton rocks? We want to unlock the secrets for ourselves and marvel at this remarkable and mysterious feat of ancient engineering and design.

The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. The entire structure is 443 ft tall and the wheel has a diameter of 394 ft. It is currently Europe's tallest Ferris wheel, and offered the highest public viewing point in London until it was superseded by the 804 ft observation deck on the 72nd floor of The Shard, opened in 2013. We want to put London in perspective by seeing it from above, in a capsule on the London Eye.

Everybody finds inspiration somewhere. From literature, perhaps, or from love, nature, faith, art or music. Vincent was no exception: his letters are full of references to books and paintings. They also express his great love of nature and –in his younger years especially– the Bible. We would like to experience Van Gogh's art first-hand. Danielle went to a painting class in 2014 and made her own version of Starry Night; we wouldn't be able to pass up this opportunity while in Amsterdam!

We cannot wait to ride through the stunning countryside in Amsterdam. From the canals to the tulip fields, we will be taking a full day to explore the famous city's natural beauty. A bicycle ride and lunch date will fulfill our wishes for a relaxing day in Amsterdam.

The Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is one of the oldest botanic gardens in the world. Located in the city centre of the Dutch capital, the garden is a beautiful and intimate place with an unique collection of plants. In the midst of busy city the Hortus offers an oasis of tranquillity, a flowery relief in the urban busyness. Danielle had the opportunity to see the beautiful Butchart Gardens in British Columbia when she was younger, and cannot wait to experience Hortus Botanicus with Nick! It's incredible what some plants and a little sunshine can do for the soul.

A place to sleep for the night and a 10 hour train to Munich for the annual Oktoberfest all in one! The train's overnight sleeper cabins are an extremely efficient form of travel for this leg of the journey. We will board the train around 8pm in Amsterdam and arrive in Munich bright and early the next morning. Once we check in with our AirBnB Host, it's just a five minute walk to the festival!! Munich is the highlight of our trip, and this will be the most anticipated train ride of the entire adventure!

Oktoberfest is the world's largest funfair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Locally, it is often simply called Wiesn, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds (Theresienwiese) themselves. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the original Munich event. Visitors may also enjoy a mixture of attractions, such as amusement rides, sidestalls and games, as well as a wide variety of traditional food. Our AirBnB host lives just a five minute walk from Theresienwiese fairgrounds, making visiting the festival for two days extremely convenient!

Showing that the Iron Lady has life in her yet (she turned 125 last year), a renovated first floor was recently revealed: two new glass-sided pavilions, new energy-saving ecological materials and a scarily vertiginous-sounding glass floor, around the centre, where a glass barrier replacing the old railings allows you to look into the central void. The second level is best for recognizing different monuments, the third level is all about bird’s eye distance, plus a champagne bar to celebrate our arrival. This gift will allow us to take the 700+ stairs to level two, where we can catch tickets for a lift to the top complete with a picnic lunch at the ground level , where views give an amazing impression of the sheer size and complexity of the structure itself. We'll be visiting the eiffel tower for Nick's 25th birthday, so this can be considered a wedding and birthday gift! :)

From the beautiful city of Paris, we will be traveling south through France to reach our next destination - Barcelona, Spain. Though our Eurail passes will allow a discount ticket to Barcelona, we would like to take a scenic train to allow us an enjoyable travel day.

Located 5 minutes from the Picasso Museum and a 15 minute walk to the beach, this private apartment will be the perfect spot for our time in Barcelona. We are looking forward to winding our trip down in Spain and Portugal, and taking the relaxing route. Although we want to wander through Barcelona and see all of its wonder, we hope to find sweet moments of relaxation in this beautiful city.

Antoni Gaudí, one of the most famous figures of Catalan culture and world architecture, spent over 40 years designing the Temple of the Sagrada Familia. Gaudi took over design of the Sagrada Familia in 1883, but completion of the construction for the masterpiece is not expected until 2026.

Our last night of the trip will be spent in Lisbon, Portugal, where we will wrap up all of our new discoveries and memories from this amazing honeymoon. The hostel is a small but cozy place mixing the traditionally Portuguese with the simple,modern design. Right by the local market, the location of this hostel is key. It lies directly between the rail station where we'll be arriving, near all of the popular spots in the area, and the airport, where we'll be departing early morning to make our flight home.
