We enjoyed a Context Travel tour detailing the history of brewing beer in London in August 2017. We'd love to learn more about Norway's beer traditions. With this tour we would "travel through more than 130 years of brewing history at Norway’s oldest pub. You will drive to Tromsø’s main street, Storgata. This has been the address of the historic Ølhallen pub since 1928, when it was the cellar belonging to the breweries of Mack’s Ølbryggeri. In 2012, the main brewery moved outside Tromsø. But the oldest cellars and microbrewery are still intact here. Ludwig Mack began the brewery in 1877 after he grew appalled at the near-constant drunkenness of working-class Tromsø. He noticed that most men drank only spirits, so with the help of his German-born father, he brewed beer because it contained far less alcohol. During your visit, enjoy a private tour and learn more about the brewery’s history. You can also see a film about the development of the factory. There will, of course, also be a chance to sample three different brews along with a snack."
