You can take a trip on a barge and get lifted 115 feet in a gondola up to the higher level. As you enjoy stunning views, the barge will then enter a new short stretch of tunnel, turn round, pass back through the tunnel and down again on the wheel to the starting point.

It fell into disuse and ruin after Catholic mass was outlawed during the 16th century Scottish Reformation. Many stories are linked to Greyfriars, including the Mackenzie Poltergeist, that has been claimed to attack people at random and leave them with scratch and burn marks. Because of the number of claims made about these attacks, the Covenanters section of the Kirkyard was closed off to the public. The only way to see it now is with the City of the Dead Haunted Graveyard Tour. It is warned that you join the tour at your own risk, as the Mackenzie Poltergeist can cause physical and mental distress.

Lunch & Drinks at The Brazen Head in Dublin
Purchased
The Brazen Head is a well-known landmark in Dublin and has been serving locals since 1613. It is widely known as the oldest tavern in Ireland and perhaps even in Europe – the sign over the door maintains that it was founded in 1198. Apparently during the Siege of Limerick a cannon ball was fired by the Williamite army and ‘removed the head of a well-known red-haired girl of ill-repute.’ This happened while she was watching the battle against Sarsfield and his men from the window of the brothel. When a new tavern was built on the site of the house in 1794 it was called ‘The Sign of the Brazen Head’.
