Lamu Island is a tranquil island off the coast of Kenya without any cars and donkeys are the main transport of people and goods. We're eager to check it out for ourselves.

In Kenya, the most popular dish is called Nyama Choma or grilled meats often including goat, beef, and chicken. A few beers, some great friends, and good music are the key ingredients to enjoy an authentic experience!

The Masaai Mara is the premier national park in Kenya where you can see all the big five and survey the broad perspective of the savannah. Fortunately it's only 4 hours drive from Nairobi, and we look forward to visiting soon!

While not as famous as its Tanzanian cousin, Mount Kenya is the 2nd highest mountain in Africa, and sits in the middle of the country. Monica and I are keen to attempt its summit before leaving the region!

One of the best parts of living in Africa is exploring the region. Fortunately some of the world's best beaches are just 4 hours away. We look forward to doing a honeymoon here early next year!

Prime Cuts is a great butcher and deli just down the road from us. Beef is quite popular in Kenya, and Prime Cuts dry ages all cuts of steak themselves. Help us enjoy a nice dinner at home!

Monica loves orchids, and one of our early dates was at Hillwood Estate in DC where we saw some of the most unique orchids we've ever seen. At a recent bazaar in Nairobi, we discovered this local vendor.

Victoria Falls sits on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and seeing the waterfall has been on Monica's bucket list since landing in Africa. Neither of us have been to either country so we're eager to do some hiking and exploring!

Monica and I have been fans of orchids for a long time, and while we were in New York, the New York Botanical Garden had a Mexican Modernism show features thousands of orchids. Hopefully we can decorate our home in Nairobi with some of our own.

We fell in love with giraffes after visiting them at the center in Nairobi, and we'd love to see some in their natural habitat. Amboseli is a unique park near Tanzania that is the premier place for Masaai giraffes while also offering walking safaris.

There's a lot of great wood workshops in Nairobi making all sorts of unique furniture. Our studio in particular we liked called Wondriss uses mango wood to make beautiful pieces, and we are particularly excited about their couch and chairs!

Just outside of town is a dairy specializing in all sorts of cheese and yogurt from Kenyan cows. It has a beautiful farm overlooking the tea estates of Tigoni and offers curated dinners from local chefs. We've found it a great day trip and a chance to meet others.

While life in Nairobi is often quite tranquil, it can get stressful from time to time, and that's when Serenity Spa is a perfect escape. Monica discovered it on her first trip in July, and it's a great way to unwind and reset.

Padel, a racket sport similar to pickleball, is extremely popular in Nairobi. Monica got us a set of padels for my birthday, but we need to up our game if we're going to compete. Hopefully some lessons will do the trick!
