After Christmas in Dublin, we’re taking a few days to visit natural and historical sights in Scotland! Rent a car, stop for food... and figure it out as we go.

While in Scotland, we are obviously going to visit some Outlander locations! Midhope Castle (aka Lallybroch), the Palace of Holyroodhouse (where Jamie and Claire stay stay with Bonnie Prince Charlie), Culloden Battlefield, and Doune Castle (aka Castle Leoch). Eek!

After our road trip we're spending a few nights in Edinburgh- staying downtown to be near all the action on New Years Eve!

While in Edinburgh, we want to check out this modern Indian restaurant!

We've never done a tasting menu before- what better time to start than our first night in Edinburgh!

After our Scottish leg of the trip, we're heading WAY north to this small town in Norway! We’ll be checking out the Huken BRYGG Gastropub for some Norwegian tapas (we don't know what that means, either).

A cable car tour over this sweet town, delivering us to a mountaintop restaurant for a meal with a view!

The museum entrance is free, but they’ll have a special exhibit called “Troy: Myth and Reality” and we don’t want to miss it!

After touring the museum we’ll stop by this cafe for exhibit-inspired foods!

You say “pasta and wine bar” and we say “where?!”

By the time we get to London, we will be two weeks in! A little breakfast in should help reboot us for the city tour!

Our first night on the highlands roadtrip is in Perth- we found a sweet little inn (with a bar and breakfast, of course)!

Well- we got our plane tickets from Tromsø to London for a fifth of the price... because it includes a 22 hour overnight layover in Oslo! It’s the night after our overnight in a Lavvo, so we are thinking fancy dinner, drinks at the hotel bar, and sleeping in! With luck we can briefly explore the city. Any help with our luxurious layover is much appreciated!!

Night two on the Scottish roadtrip! Portree is the main city on the Isle of Skye- dream destination!

Nooooo! Our last night, which is in London, we plan on splurging to end the trip with a night to remember.

Matt and I have a tradition of getting Christmas ornaments from places we visit- we put them on a separate travel tree each holiday! We will be loading up on souvenir ornaments at all our stops!
