Depart from Port Vendres for a pleasant 45-minute drive to Perpignan. This city will charm you with its architectural and historical heritage, but also with its culture of wine. You will take a walking guided tour of the historical city center passing through the Castillet Tower which is the only part of the medieval curtain wall that still remains, the Loge Square and the Town Hall with the statue of Aristide Maillol, the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, passing through narrow streets and squares full of the colors and accents of the South. Then, walk to a wine cellar where an oenologist will introduce you to the Art of Tasting Wine. First, how to describe the smell of a wine, then its color and at last the tasting of 3 wines, 1 white, 1 rose and 1 red accompanied by tapas. You will have an hour of free time to stroll in the little streets or have a look at the shops before you board your motor coach for your drive back to the ship.

Begin this excursion with a scenic drive to Le Castellet - a typical Provençal hilltop village above the vineyards. This remarkable stronghold boasts well-preserved ramparts, a carefully restored 12th century church, and a castle dating back to the 11th century. Entering by the two fortified gates, called le portail and le portalet, you will start your visit with a guided walking tour around the narrow streets up to the castle which is now home to the town hall. Time at leisure will allow you to explore the arts and craft workshops - painting, pottery, and hollowware, before re-joining the motor coach for a drive to Domaine de Souviou. Upon arrival, the owner will invite you on a short walk, to get a glimpse of this 70-hectares property, planted with 100-year-old olive trees and rows of vines, cypress trees, and lavender and will offer you 3 house wines and 2 house olive oils to taste. Then, your motor coach will drive you back to your ship.

After docking, we will spend two nights exploring as much of Barcelona as we can.

We will experience the architectural and artistic majesty of Barcelona on a half-day bike tour of the city. We will have a knowledgeable and experienced guide; see all of the city’s significant sights such as the La Catedral and Placa del Rei and cycle between magnificent monuments. We'll capture fabulous photographs at each stop and gain insight into the city’s fascinating history with informative commentary.

We'll be taking a three hour high-speed train to Madrid and enjoying the scenery along the way!

From Barcelona we will travel to Madrid by train and stay for two nights.
