The GRAND SUNSET TOUR (3 hour approx.) is an exciting safari that ventures through the heart of the Kaibab Forest en route to the Canyon’s edge where you will witness one of the world’s most magnificent vistas… sunset at the Grand Canyon. On this journey you will travel an 1890′s stagecoach trail searching for Rocky Mountain elk, Mule deer and Merriam’s turkey. Your first stop will be at the historic 80ft Grandview Lookout Tower. This tower was built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corp as a lookout to spot wildfires. Then journey on to Moran Point where there is a view of Hance Rapids on the Colorado River. These rapids are one of most challenging on the River with a drop of 30 feet in about a half mile. Next is the spectacular Grandview Point at sunset where the Colorado River and Painted Desert can be seen in the distance. All the while your guide will share their knowledge with you about the flora, early settlers, native wildlife, history, and fascinating geology of this region.
