Rather than many small funds, we’ve created one shared Newlywed Cash Fund. Contributions may support our honeymoon, our future home, future travels, and the experiences that come with starting a life together. In Kerala wedding tradition, gold symbolizes prosperity and family blessings for a new marriage. Contributions will be put toward gold pieces after the wedding. Pieces may follow the classic South Indian tradition of being carefully stashed in the back of a safe until one day they are heroically liquidated for something generally responsible. (This is our second most-preferred gift option.)

Chris the German introduced us to sprudelwasser (sparkling water), and it quickly became a staple in our household. This SodaStream would be a fun upgrade to something we already enjoy every day, while saving countless cans and bottles.

Our current can opener is a bit rusty. This one is the smooth-edge type that releases the lid instead of cutting through it, so there are no sharp edges — a small but very nice kitchen upgrade. Also safer.
