One thing we'd really like to do is spend a night in a Ryokan, which is sort of like a Japanese bed & breakfast.

Will it be amazing sushi? Ultra-traditional kaiseki? We're not sure yet, but we would love to have one really fantastic meal in Japan.

Help us jet off to Tokyo in style. By "style" we mean "in an airplane that stays in the air for the entire trip."

This will enable us to travel all over the country, including Tokyo's public transit system and our trip into the city from the airport. And how can you visit Japan without traveling by bullet train?

It should seem obvious if you know the two of us at all that we can't go to Japan and not visit the famous Cat Island. It's an island cat sanctuary! This side trip will also give us a chance to get a little off the beaten path and see some of rural Japan. Tashirojima is free to visit, but we'll have to take a ferry there, and we'll probably also want lunch.

We're huge fans of the Studio Ghibli animated films (My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc), and are dying to visit the studio's art museum in Tokyo.

Onsen are Japanese hot springs. The price of admission gets you a day at the onsen, which is sort of like a spa.
