Katie will be starting a 1-year Masters program in the Fall in London! We'll be following in the footsteps of Katie's parents, who did long distance as newlyweds while her dad was in law school. Thanks to John's flexible work schedule, he's hoping to take a few trips across the pond while she's studying.

We are planning to go on our honeymoon in December 2024! We haven't decided on our location yet, but we're planning for somewhere we can explore nature in the morning and relax in the spa in the afternoon! We'd love to take a cooking class or get a couple's massage during this trip.

We love to cook, but we like washing the dishes by hand a little bit less! We're hoping to replace our appliances to make dinner date nights at home easier.

A meal at Dulce Patria in Mexico City in 2018 forever changed John's relationship with corn and sent him careening down rabbit holes of century-old recipe books. He will use this to make Katie tamales, tortillas, and pupusas.

Millennia ago, people in central Mexico discovered that they could transform corn into masa by boiling field corn in a wood ash solution. Today, cal is used to carry out that process, called nixtamalization. John will use this to turn dry posole into tortillas and tamales for Katie.
