Traditionally, when people get married they compile a gift registry of items to assist the new couple in making a home. Well, Katie & I are fortunate enough to have a comfortable home. More important to us than getting a(nother) blender is getting to spend time with each of you. Truly, that's why we planned a 10 hour open house as our reception. It is entirely more important to us that we get to see and spend time with you than it is that you bring a gift. We went back and forth about even creating a gift registry, though we were informed that some people would bring us gifts anyway, so if we didn't want a 3rd popcorn maker, we better give some directions. A gift is not necessary but if you feel so compelled, we compiled a list of exceptional local restaurants that we would love to support. If you care to give a gift, we would love it if you purchased a gift card from any of the restaurants below that are personal to us. Savory Bakehouse is a tiny little bakery in our old Minneapolis bakery run by a very talented couple of bakers. We are lucky enough to have discovered them shortly after they opened when you could stroll in and calmly peruse their delicious offerings. Nowadays, it seems the entire neighborhood gets in line 30 minutes before they open - but getting to wait amongst old neighbors may just be another perk.

Chef Furukawa and his team have an exceptionally detailed approach to dining that is a sensory bath. Kado no Mise is where I took Katie on her 40th birthday after proposing to her. We spent two hours smiling and giggling at each other, and also eating one of the most artfully prepared meals we’ve ever had.
