We are so thankful for the effort everyone is making to help us celebrate! All of our loved ones coming together is truly the best gift we could ask for, as many of our relationships (not just our own!) have been long distance:) If you are inclined to provide an additional gift, we would love to direct you towards our three charity funds at the top of the registry. As you are likely aware, we hope to pursue paths in medicine and humanitarian work, respectively. These three charities - the World Food Programme, Doctors Without Borders, and Partners in Health - stand out to us as organizations delivering impactful, on-the-ground support to communities in need. Below each of these funds, we have left a brief description of why they mean so much to us. Please also feel free to donate to any other charities that you love and hope to support. We have also included a small selection of traditional gifts for those who prefer that option, but please feel free to leave these unpurchased.

WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization, and they aim to end starvation and malnutrition. Katherine's work this year on her master's has focused heavily on understanding their work in Ethiopia amid droughts, floods, and civil war. WFP has been suffering from severe budget cuts, leading to extreme caloric rationing for many refugees and vulnerable groups. While systemic change is needed, every amount donated can meaningfully affect the lives of those they support.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) provides medical care and humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations across the world, including victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. It is an organization that has long been admired by Katherine and Ben, and one they hope to work for in the future. While MSF is an independent organization, meaning they do not accept government funding, they have played an important role in addressing the severe gaps left by USAID and other aid cuts across the globe.

Ben's parents worked for Partners In Health (PIH) during their years in Malawi. The organization remains near and dear to Ben's heart and the work of Dr. Paul Farmer, a co-founder of PIH, was a major catalyst in Ben's decision to pursue medicine. PIH is focused on addressing injustice and inequity in global health by providing medical care to those who need it most. Their work continues to be threatened by USAID cuts. If you want to learn more about PIH, we recommend watching "Bending the Arc."
