Clearwater, founded by Pete Seeger, protects the Hudson River, one of Clyde's favorite places to swim. We especially like this organization because it incorporates boating and music in its efforts to restore this iconic natural resource. The sloop Clearwater is recognized as America’s Environmental Flagship and is among the first vessels in the United States to conduct science-based environmental education aboard a sailing ship, creating the template for environmental education programs around the world. More than half a million people have experienced their first real look at the Hudson River estuary’s ecosystem aboard Clearwater.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA aggressively advocates on issues important to veterans, including health care, government accountability, seeking a full accounting of POWs and MIAs, serving communities, and changing public perception of Vietnam vets. The organization's outreach efforts focus on PTSD, substance abuse, education and ending veteran homelessness

The opioid crisis is nation-wide, but we believe that so far, it is only being effectively addressed at the local level, by programs that look for novel ways to intervene in individuals' lives. Chatham Cares 4 U, Twin Country Recovery Services and Columbia County Pathways to Recovery, are three such organizations working together to make an impact in the area of upstate New York in which we will be gathering our friends and family for our celebration.
