After tendering to the port of Athinios, you’ll drive to Pyrgos village, one of the oldest settlements and the highest village on the island. Admire the Venetian fortress crowned by several churches and from the highest point of the island the views out over the caldera are majestic. Head to the picturesque, village of Oia for more magnificent views of the caldera. With its cobblestone streets and beautiful old homes perched on the cliffside, you’ll appreciate why the traditional Cycladic architecture is so appealing and a perfect complement to the natural beauty of the area. Here, you’ll have free time to stroll and explore this charming village. Visit one of Santorini’s renowned Greek restaurants, where you’ll enjoy traditional Greek food, wine, music and dances. After a buffet style meal, you’ll continue to Fira town, the lovely capital of the island built on the rim of the caldera wall, before returning to your ship.

Mykonos Excursion details: Not far from Mykonos lies the island of Delos, the mythical birthplace of the Goddess Artemis and God Apollo - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Like Delphi, Delos was a major sanctuary dedicated to Apollo, the Olympian god of prophecy, music, healing and more. Apollo’s sanctuary attracted pilgrims from all over Greece, creating one of the wealthiest and most revered shrines of antiquity. Here you’ll find traces of Aegean civilizations, from the 3rd millennium B.C. to the palaeo-Christian era. The archaeological site is exceptionally extensive and rich, and conveys the image of a great cosmopolitan Mediterranean port. The island's landscape consists solely of ruins systematically excavated since 1872 and a museum. After reaching the island by chartered boat, you’ll discover among the ruins, one of the island’s most spectacular relics, the Avenue of the Lions, where perfect replicas of the 7th century Naxian marble beasts crouch in silent vigilance at the sacred lake where Leto gave birth to her twins. Beyond, a path leads to Mt. Kynthos, where Zeus observed the event. There are many other interesting monuments inside the museum, which you’ll be able to admire during your visit.
