We thought about doing Air Bnb but Eric is secretly scared of navigating the language barrier and everything so the two love bugs will be staying in a Hotel in Shibuya - this fund is so that we don't have to stay in a capsule hotel.

Hotels are weirdly cheap in Kyoto so we are going to stay in a traditional Ryokan along the Kamo river. Sleeping on a futon on a tatami mat seems like fun. Eric's snoring will probably shake the fusuma paper wall dividers.

This fund will provide both money for Holly to buy various knick knacks and tchotchkes but more importantly it will provide Eric the funds required to buy a sleep dart (ninja style) to shoot Holly in the neck with (the only way he has found to get Holly out of a thrifting frenzy).

We've watched every Ghibli movie many times over - to visit the Mecca in Mitaka will be a dream come true for the both of us.

They will garb Eric's large body in a kimoni (picked from the rack they use to outfit short sumo wrestlers) and Holly will look like an actual Meiji Era princess while they relax and eat too much food in the most traditional "honeymoon" portion of the trip.

I'm just kidding - Eric is not one of those weird anime people, he is a normal anime person. Anyways, this is totally unnecessary but it would be funny and make Holly mad if Eric brought back an anime figurine that takes up half the checked bag. Eric will probably be buying random weaboo stuff regardless.

If Eric finds a pair of jeans that fit his legs it will be a Christmas Miracle so this fund is for Holly to ascend into rarified air and buy a pair of hand dyed indigo quadruple chain stitched kevlar like mega fashion jeans that will be passed down for many generations, made by some legendary Japanese grandpa in the denim capital of the world, Osaka.

You get off the plane, you hit the suica card machine, then you just start swiping! To get on the trains (and even pay for some random stuff like vending machines) you just swipe swipe swipe! Eric likes to chit chat with strangers and if him and Holly end up in the wrong izakaya he may make some jokes that could really tick off the wrong person (nothing intentional, just cultural differences). Japan doesn't believe in therapy so instead they have companies where you can rent a fake family to work out trauma. Since Eric doesn't have a mom we are going to use this money to rent a mom for a day. How exciting!

Appreciation or Appropriation - the question that can't be answered! Holly would look stunning in traditional garb but Eric would look like the one white guy in the sumo competition. Do people from other countries ever come to America and wear cargo shorts, white new balances, and a Dale Earnhardt Jr shirt?

Eric and Holly don't gamble at all but it might be fun to try and get addicted to the Japanese version of slot machines. You use little balls instead and it just sounds so fun!
