The One Dish to Eat in Iceland...Is Hot Dogs? It's true! Hot dogs are so ubiquitous and beloved in Iceland, they're practically the national dish. They're sold at every gas station and most convenience stores, at hot dog stands inside malls and at ferry landings, and even at the airport, but the most popular place to get one is in Reykjavik at Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur (which translates to “best hot dogs in town”). We are in Iceland for 5 days and if we each eat 2 per day we're golden!

The geothermal water originates 2,000 metres below the surface, where freshwater and seawater combine at extreme temperatures. It is then harnessed via drilling holes at a nearby geothermal power plant, Svartsengi, to create electricity and hot water for nearby communities. On its way to the surface, the water picks up silica and minerals, before emerging at a soothing 38°C (100°F). Perfect for a relaxing and re-energising bathe.

We love small weird museums and this one seems perfect! At Strandagaldur, the museum of Icelandic sorcery & witchcraft, these times of magic and fear are remembered in often shocking detail. The museum focuses on the elaborate and esoteric spells and rituals that the regional magic called for which would provide such effects as conjuring a creature to steal goat's milk or making someone invisible.

One of the best places to see lots of whales and puffins is Iceland.

The islands we visit are covered with small hills and slopes and both are well known for their colorful birdlife. The island‘s shores are rocky but Old Skuli is especially designed to take us as close to the islands as possible due to its shallow draught. When we arrive to the islands we turn off the engine so our passengers can observe the birds and the beautiful surroundings.

We have a lot of driving to do and we're going to need some caffeine!
