Most of you are probably aware that we have been taking a crack at homesteading and have been enjoying it immensely. We started four years ago with a tiny Ikea pot of basil we grew in our equally tiny patio in San Francisco. So far we have grown (and have tried to grow) over a hundred varieties of heirloom fruits, vegetables, and herbs and have raised heritage hens for eggs in our half acre property. Our next big project is to take a big piece of our grass filled lawn and convert it to an organic kitchen garden.
