We will take a trip to the real Middle-earth with a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set, the bucolic setting for The Shire that featured in the Peter Jackson directed films, The Lord of the Rings and the 'Hobbit' Trilogies. The tour includes a drive through the picturesque 1,250-acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges, the Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.

This 19-kilometre trek is New Zealand’s best day one day walk. The track leads up to the saddle between Mt. Ngauruhoe and Mt. Tongariro and then diverts over Mt. Tongariro. Mt. Tongariro is not a single volcano, but a complex of craters that have been active at different periods. The landscape on Tongariro is peppered with the different colored and shaped craters, scoured volcanic rocks, mountain springs, and brightly colored emerald lakes. This is a majestic landscape with a vast array of colors and textures created from Sulfur, Aluminum, Silica and many other mineral deposits released from within the Earth’s Crust.

This is a fantastic introduction to an enthralling world of ice. A short heli hop from the township takes us into the remarkable Pinnacles area of the glacier. Here our guide will navigate us through a maze of ice and explain the dramatic environmental changes over the last few years. We will also explore the awe-inspiring landscape through Franz Josef Glacier and visit the Hot Pools located in the heart of the area. Nestled in lush rainforest, the Glacier Hot Pools is a haven of natural tranquility and the perfect way to unwind and experience a blissful state of pure relaxation. The Glacier Hot Pools are fed by the waters of Kā Roimata o Hinehukatere, the frozen tears of Hinehukatere for her lost love. According to the legends of Ngāi Tahu (the local Māori tribe), these tears of aroha (love) were frozen by the gods, forming what is known worldwide as the Franz Josef Glacier, or to Ngāi Tahu as Kā Roimata o Hinehukatere – The Frozen Tears of Hinehukatere.

Our Jet Boat Tour begins with a guided drive into historic Skippers Canyon with on-board commentary from our knowledgeable drivers. We will be escorted into a land rich in gold mining history and stunning scenery, and Lord of the Rings filming locations via the infamous Skippers Canyon Road, which was carved out of the vertical rock face by miners over 120 years ago. Getting there is half the adventure! Once on the boat we will feel our adrenalin surge as we power deeper into Skippers Canyon through the narrowest canyons on the Shotover River. The highly-skilled jet boat drivers maneuver the boat just inches from the sheer canyon walls with speeds in excess of 80kmh and a series of full 360 degree spins.

We will travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, through the rolling countryside to Te Anau, and along the spectacular alpine route of the Milford Road. Considered one of the most beautiful drives in the world, we will experience this journey on a glass-roofed coach to maximize the views. Upon arrival in Milford Sound, we will cruise the full length of Milford to the Tasman Sea whilst a nature guide provides a detailed commentary. We will also have the opportunity to explore points of interest, including waterfalls, rainforest, the towering peaks, and wildlife.

Queenstown Stargazing The Skyline Gondola will whisk us up 450 metres to Bob’s Peak, as Queenstown drops away. From the top, we will enjoy dinner while taking in 360 degree views from Coronet Peak around to the Remarkables and onto Cecil and Walter Peaks on the other side of Lake Wakatipu. A tour guide will provide orientation and stargazing lessons on top of Bob's Peak. We will enjoy constellation and sky interpretation, while using high-quality telescopes to look deep into the galaxy.

The Nevis Swing is the biggest swing in the world, it's simply massive! Imagine being suspended 160 metres above a canyon floor. Experience a massive rush of adrenaline as you find yourself released and accelerating through the canyon at mind blowing speeds up to 150 kilometres per hours and in a 300 metre arc!
