Depart by speedboat from Boat Lagoon Marina to visit one of Thailand's most popular natural attractions, the gorgeous Phi Phi Islands. To avoid the crowds, first visit Bamboo Island and its pristine white sand beach with emerald waters, simply perfect for swimming. Next, enjoy snorkeling off Yoong Island noted for its antler corals and colorful fish. Cruise 30 min to Monkey Beach with its colony of wild macaques. Enjoy a simple local buffet lunch on arrival at Koh Phi Phi Don beofre taking a dip in Viking Cave on the island's northeastern tip, known for its swifts' nests used in Bird's Nest Soup. Visit Maya Bay, the postcard-perfect setting made famous by the film "The Beach", and enjoy a swim or simply relax on its white sand beach.

Drive to the looming sea cliffs of Ao Thalane. After some basic instruction in sea kayaking, climb aboard and start exploring one of the most beautiful mangrove bays in all of Thailand, featuring both traditional local villages along with many types of flora and fauna, including kingfishers, herons and crab-eating macaques. Highlights of the trip include navigating channels, bays and canyon-like passageways while observing the beautiful surroundings. After exploring the area's small inlets, caves and hidden lagoons, paddle back to the pier and enjoy a restaurant lunch before transferring back to your hotel.

Morning visit to a vibrant food and flower market where local Thais do their shopping. Continue to Wat Suan Dok, final resting place for the ashes of former kings of Chiang Mai and the Royal Family. Drive 30 min to Doi Suthep Mountain, enjoying the spectacular views of Northern Thailand as we head past mountains and forests, towards Wat Phra That, one of Northern Thailand's most sacred temples. Founded in 1383 AD, the temple is reached by climbing 309 steps. The climb up is rewarded with a superb panoramic view over the city. Return to Chiang Mai and enjoy a 20 min rickshaw ride through the quiet streets of old town.

Visit Wat Rong Khun, which is different from any other temple in Thailand. In contrast to the ancient temples, this temple was built in 1997 and was designed using white glass.

Take in the mountain scenery before moving on to explore the spiritual treasures of Jade Temple. Then it’s off to the border to practice your bargaining skills at the eclectic Chinese market. Chiang Saen (Thailand) Reimagine Chiang Saen’s time as the ancient Lanna Kingdom capital. Tour the scattered ruins of defensive walls and sacred temples, reliving the rise and fall of this historic town through the knowledge of your guide. Board a traditional longtail boat to cruise the Mekong. Heading directly across the world's 12th largest river, you’ll skirt the bank of Laos where local children often play at the water’s edge. Passing the impressive Golden Buddha statue and the point where three countries converge to mark the Golden Triangle, you’ll saunter off down the Ruak River to reach the resort’s private pier. Don Sao Islands (Laos) If you’d like a greater glimpse of Laos, you can opt to continue your longtail boat journey along the Mekong River to Don Sao Island. Thanks to a loophole in immigration laws, you can visit without a visa. The small market on the island is a great place to pick up Laotian handicrafts. As our final stop of the day, you might also be tempted to try a Beer Laos, and if you’re feeling braver, the potent rice whisky.

Accompanying our elephants on foot for their daily free roam offers an intuitive experience. Walk and interact with the elephants and their mahouts as you meander through the forest and grasslands. Observe how they behave and interact in their natural habitat, hearing enlightening facts from the vet or biologist about how these intelligent creatures think. Following the elephants at whatever pace they choose illustrates just how much they consume. Matching an enormous appetite with a cheeky, fun loving character, there’s nothing more joyful than watching bath time, whether it’s playing in the mud or wallowing in the pond. Please note that this programme does not include riding the elephants.
