La Cocina is a nonprofit based in SF working to solve problems of equity in business ownership for women, immigrants and people of color. Started in The Mission in 2005, they provide business consulting, commercial kitchen space, and access to a professional network. La Cocina was born out of a belief that a community of talented natural entrepreneurs, given the right resources, can create self-sufficient businesses that benefit themselves, their families, their community, and the whole city. The Inneract Project is a design nonprofit serving middle and high school youth who identify as Black, Latinx and/or of low-income backgrounds. Mister Jiu's is an acclaimed modern Chinese-food restaurant from a local SF native. Allie and I have had many memorable dates and group dinners here and it remains a favorite of ours in SF.

Cotogna is quickly becoming one of our new favorite date spots in San Francisco. They serve a collection of home made Italian dishes with a focus on specialty pastas.

Both of us have always wanted to visit San Francisco's highly acclaimed symphony. 2020 will have performances of Bach, Sibelius and Mozart.

A hangiri is a wooden tub or barrel used in the final steps of preparing sushi rice. We eat - a lot - of sushi rice at our house.
