We met during a phone call from a mutual friend and, in true middle-schooler fashion, began to call each other every night after to talk for hours. It was a week or two until we actually met in person; We had devised a plan to rendezvous at our local mall, conning our parents to drop us off to hang out with 'friends.' We ended up sneaking down to the movie theatre to see a movie that had just came out, "The Proposal." (oh, the irony) Fast forward one motorcycle ride, two beers, and nine years later... we had picked up right where we left off. *Que Sunset*
In June of 2018 I was given a beautiful diamond ring from my Grandma Edwards. I was able to find a jeweler who could bring Haley's dream ring to reality! Now came the hard part... I had to ask for permission from her father. Luckily Haley's father, Marshall Bean, is one of the most laid back, generous and loving guys you could ever meet, but none the less I was nervous for a response. In December of 2018 Haley and I visited her parents for Christmas and while Haley, her Mom and Grandma went to get their nails done I asked for Haley's hand in marriage. The look on Marshall's face along with his response was the biggest relief and we celebrated with some beers. By this point everyone I knew, except Haley, was aware of my plans and awaiting the big moment. The week following Marshall's blessing, Haley and I left for a cruise with some of our friends. I had decided this was the perfect time to ask her to marry me and I had so many visions in my head of proposing on a beach or at a really cool historical stop during the cruise. However, when we boarded the ship, my nerves were taking over and I couldn't wait a minute longer. So on the first night, we got dressed up for dinner and we went searching for somewhere on the boat for pre-dinner pictures. Knowing my intentions, our friends politely asked people to move out of a spot over looking the water with the absolute most beautiful sunset. Haley and I began to have some pictures taken, then it happened...I got down on one knee but was so nervous that the only thing I could blurt out was, "Haley, will you marry me?". Overcome with excitement and shock, her response was a teary head nod, so I took that as a 'yes!'
