All because she swiped right on the cute dog pic! Thank you Lucy! Casey's side of the story: I had just gotten home from three months showing in Florida. I had mostly sworn off dating apps because of the terrible dates that I had been on. For some reason I gave it one more chance. Kyle and I matched so instead of texting back and forth for days I decided to just pull the trigger and ask him out. I was so happy when he said "let's do it" - we met that Sunday afternoon at Greater Good Brewery! From there we have just had one crazy adventure after another. Living in two different states, jobs that have us traveling, and having families all over the place made our life together so much fun! I can't wait for the rest of our lives together and all our adventures to come! Kyle's side of the story: I didn't have much hope from dating apps based on previous experience and to top it all off I was moving in 3 months. However, when Casey matched with me and had the initiative to ask me out I thought this doesn't happen, there must be something wrong. I was proven incredibly wrong when I saw her in the parking lot of Greater Good getting out of her fancy Mercedes looking absolutely stunning. Then we sat down and I said "just to warn you I am moving in 3 months" to which she responded "that's ok lets see where this goes." Well it went and I couldn't have been happier sharing so many adventures with her and I am incredibly excited for them to continue. Also I would be remiss if I didn't thank Lucy dog for being so cute on my profile and when Casey met her. It is always good to have trump card to help your odds. :)
This will be more fun from Kyle's side! Enjoy! We started our day with a flight on a duct-taped-together plane that I had planned a few months ago but was delayed due to paperwork issues. Thankfully, the flight went well with no major issues and Casey kept her breakfast down like a champ. Then we headed to a squadron party known as a "Roof Stomp" which is a tradition where the squadron literally gets on the roof of their new commander's house and stomps to welcome them. Casey got to meet some of the squadron folks while also allowing her to see the fun side of Air Force life. She reluctantly left the party because we had an early dinner reservation. I told her "it was all that was available" (little fib #1). While on the way out Casey slipped in some mud and picked up a tick which led to some minor lyme complications but all in all we survived our trek back to get ready for dinner. With Casey looking spectacular and myself looking adequate we went to dinner at the "best" restaurant in Columbus, MS: J Broussards. Dinner was good but the drinks were better. Casey did get a little upset with me however, asking who I was texting while we were at our fancy dinner to which I responded "just checking to see if the party is still going on" (little fib #2). With dinner done we drove home and while holding hands Casey stated and I QUOTE "today was the best day ever." Then almost like I planned it the fuel light went on so I had to stop to get gas even though Casey was anxious to get home after a long day. While at the gas station I made sure the surprise was set and after filling the car we drove home. When we arrived we found the garage not working, meaning we had to go through the front door. When we did Casey found a room full of candles, flowers, champagne, and the TV showing a fire place (all setup by Kellen Rau and Alex Colizzo which is who I had been texting at dinner). Upon seeing all this Casey seemed quite surprised and used language that shan't be repeated here. I guided her in, got down on a knee and asked "Casey will you marry me?" to which she replied "are you serious yes of course!" And that boys and girls is how Casey and Kyle got engaged. Lucy was a huge part of how we met, and it was only fitting that she was a part of how we got engaged. Kyle had planned to have her wearing the ring box, but sadly Lucy left us before the engagement. Her role unfortunately wasn't exactly what Kyle had planned but she was with us the whole time even though she couldn't have physically been there.
