How We Met

Who Swiped Right First?

Like many millennials now-a-days, we met each other on Tinder! Tyler sent a message to me commenting on how “compact” my softball swing was, and he was naturally drawn to me because I swung left handed. He asked for my number because "being on the app so much was 'draining his phone battery'”. Super slick right? We started talking more and found out that for almost our entire lives, we only lived 10 minutes away from each other. To this day we constantly think about how many times we have crossed paths unknowing that we were soulmates!

Our First Date

I Was Handicapped

I was so nervous before our first date. I paced back and forth in my house for 30 minutes before he picked me up. Tyler was so nervous before our first date that he intentionally drove past my house and around the block to help calm his nerves. I told my parents that I met him at my best friend’s cousin’s Fourth of July party so that they didn’t think I would get kidnapped by a stranger from the internet. They still believe that; Oops! He decided to surprise me and take me mini golfing right after I had gotten out of my brace from having shoulder surgery. Needless to say I could barely pick up my fork at lunch to feed myself. Oh! And I was in a maxi dress and 4 inch wedges, so mini golfing didn’t go too well for me. And yes, Tyler made fun of me the entire time at lunch because I had to keep my face about 3 inches from my plate to feed myself. We went back to his house to hang out, and he hit me with a corny line to kiss me... but it worked. Most of our dates after this have played out similarly in the fact that something usually goes wrong. They've become great reminders for us to just go with the flow!

The Proposal

Bridget was Hangry

Tyler had bought us tickets to see Wicked on Broadway, which I have wanted to see since I was in middle school. January 6, 2019. We got on one of the first trains out of New Jersey to Central Station. Tyler had the ring box inside a winter hat, which was located on the inside chest pocket of his peacoat. I was trying to lay my head on him to nap during the train ride, and he was so nervous that I was going to feel the ring box! I did not. For months, we had been eyeing up some gourmet donuts online, and if you know me then you know that donuts are my favorite food group. I was ecstatic to go get these donuts. We sat on a bench at Central Park and ate them. Unfortunately, they were just average. Neither of us had walked around Central Park, so we had planned to do so before seeing Wicked. Little did I know, Tyler arranged for a photographer to capture our special moment. We walked around Central Park to waste time until the photographer texted Tyler to say he was at the spot they agreed upon. I was in heels and we walked for 2 1/2 hours around 1/3 of Central Park. At this point, I was hangry and wanted to leave for lunch, but Tyler wanted to wait longer. We got to the spot that he arranged with the photographer, and it was off limits due to it being a huge mud puddle from rain the day before. Tyler was in a complete panic; He can’t find the photographer and his phone is about to die. He walked 5 feet in front of me so I wouldn’t see him texting the photographer. I was annoyed he was walking so fast, and I was so hungry, which is dangerous for him! He kept trying to distract me by making me look at things while he flagged down the photographer. The photographer had him move to a different spot to get a good shot. At the time one of my sayings was “I did a thing”, which Tyler wasn’t a fan of. He had a whole speech planned in his head, but when the time came, he got down on one knee and said “Well if we’re going to do a thing, let’s do a thing forever”!
