We first met at a bonfire a couple years before we actually started dating. Adam was home for Thanksgiving, and tagged along with Courtney and Pat. I volunteered to be D.D. for Alex and Betsy. We did not actually chat aside from intros, but I thought he was a hunk. So ends encounter #1. A few weeks later was encounter #2: bowling with friends. Not much interaction here, but he met my parents! About a month after bowling was encounter #3: Pat’s 30th birthday. Again, we did not chat, but Adam remembers thinking “she’s cute but young.” Fast forward to September 2017.....Chris Stapleton tailgate and concert. Again, we did not chat! I started to see that Adam is the strong silent type. I made him toss the football with me for a bit while we tailgated. After that, a couple of friends made the comment “so you and Adam, huh?! I can make that happen!” which I ignored. The concert started. We ended up standing next to each other and were swaying to the music together. I looked up at him. We shared a lingering gaze into each other eyes*. And then, a kiss. The rest was a blur, thanks to my prior consumption of Tito’s lemonade. Little did we know, Adam was supposed to be set up with someone else that night. Sorry bout ya, mystery girl! A week later we had our first date and our first REAL kiss (uninfluenced by booze and Chris’s sweet sweet voice). We owe it all to Tito’s and Chris! *this moment was romanticized....just a smidge 😘
While on family vacation in PCB, Adam popped the question during family photo session on the beach, at sunset. I ugly cried and asked if he was sure. But of course, I said yes!
