Kővirág has become a notion in Káli-medence. There are a lot of returning guests from all over the World, not just because the restaurant and its surroundings have their special charm, but also everything we provide them is with heart and soul from the freshly cut flowers on the tables to the high quality, uniquely arranged dishes on the plates. The garden with its huge sunshades is very enjoyable during summer months. We can easily forget the rushing World in the evenings with cricket chirping, candle light, flower fragrance, regional wine, harmonious dishes. Even in the biggest summer bustle, this place shares its calmness, where we can forget our everyday issues. Winter months are as much interesting with dinners by stove fire.
Vitorlás could proudly boast the title of oldest and most venerable restaurant in Balatonfüred, as it is housed in the building of the first Balaton sailing club in the center of the Füred corso. Apart from traditional dishes of Hungarian cuisine, the menu includes pizzas and other classic Italian delicacies. On the first floor, you can find Vitorlázeum, the interactive exhibition showcasing the history of Balaton sailing, opened earlier this year.
There’s a thatched cottage with a porch standing on the Csopak hillside, which looks like something straight out of a Móricz novel, but this in itself is no big news around Balaton. Márga is still one of the best restaurants on the north shore, and not only because of their view that’s like a feature for dinners here.
Karolina Kávéház is the queen of the North Shore's patisserie kingdom. Ask anyone about confectioneries around Balaton, we bet they will recommend Karolina. It is located on Balatonfüred’s promenade next to the shore in a patio. It is open all year long, and when the weather is nice, you can observe the boats of Silver Yacht Club from the terrace. The next door neighbour of the confectionery is the Karolina SPEIZ delicatessen, sandwich and gift shop.
You can order delicious cakes, but they also offer homemade patisseries, ice cream and salty pastries as well. A good decision is the pogácsa with pumpkin seeds, while another favorite is the baked cheesecake. Locals swear by the Cremeschnitte, but one has to be lucky to get this, as they run out quickly.
Have a glass of champagne and enjoy the stunning view!
Balatonfüred's Kisfaludy Beach along Aranyhíd sétány is one of the largest leisure beaches of Balaton's north coast. In addition to chilling on the beach, you can enjoy free-for-all adventure pools, a library, WiFi and sports grounds.
You don't have to take a trip all the way to Budapest in order to find an appropriate wine bar for a night out with your friends. Kredenc was opened in the historic center of Balatonfüred. It has become a popular spot among locals, so if you're planning to drop by on the weekend, you'd better consider booking a table.
Staying at the Liszkay Borkúria in Monoszló feels like being in the set of a South American soap opera. There are numerous services behind the name Borkúria, all connected by the fact that each and everyone of them are excellent. The Liszkay estate produces altogether 8 types of wine, among which there is only one white (Pinot gris) and one rosé (Pinot Noir). The list of reds is comprised of the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Franc Giulia, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cuvée, Merlot, and the Pinot Noir , among which a bottle without a gold medal is a rare sight. In the light of this, it seems totally absurd that grounds of making red wine in this area are often under fire. It is especially surprising knowing that the cultivation of white grapevines in the Balaton Uplands has only become trending since after the the late 19th century phylloxera epidemic. In any case, the Liszkay estate has set the goal of making quality red wine
