Maddie and Matt met through Hillel at the University of Colorado Boulder when Matt was a freshman and Maddie was a junior. They were both members of the student board and worked alongside each other for ~1 year before becoming close friends (think Brooklyn Nine-Nine marathons following weekly Shabbat dinners). During Maddie's senior year and Matt's sophomore year, they served as Co-Presidents of CU Boulder Hillel and began spending even more time together! In April 2019, right before Maddie graduated, Maddie asked Matt to her sorority's spring formal, specifically AS FRIENDS. Friendship blossomed into something more and they started dating the very next week (it had been a long time coming), despite the unfortunate timing of Maddie soon moving across the country. They continued to date long distance while Matt finished out his degree at CU Boulder and Maddie joined Teach for America as a 3rd Grade Teacher in Nashville, TN. After two years of (very successful) long-distance/Covid-19 dating, Maddie moved back to Boulder, and in with Matt, in the summer of 2021. They enjoyed a great year in Boulder with their new puppy, Daisy, while Matt finished his Aerospace Master's Degree. In July 2022, they moved out to Lancaster, California for Matt's first job, and they have been there ever since! Matt works with the Air Force as an Aerospace Engineer while Maddie works as a Recruiter in the tech start-up space. Besides the occasional unbearable heat, they are having an absolute blast in California and enjoy spending their weekends exploring Los Angeles and the surrounding area. While they have been loving the California life with their two pups, Daisy and Tosca (who is a recent and adorable addition), they plan to move back to Boulder in 2025 to settle down and buy their first home!
