What is a Temple Sealing?

Answer

As part of our commitment to each other and to God, we will be sealed in the Portland Temple for time and all eternity. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a temple sealing is more than just a wedding ceremony—it is a sacred ordinance where we make promises that bind us together beyond this life. This means that as long as we are faithful, our marriage won’t just be “till death do us part” but will last forever. Because temple sealings take place in one of the Lord’s Holy Temples, the ceremony is simple, sacred, and attended only by those who have prepared to enter the temple. However, we want to make sure that all of our loved ones can be part of this special day! That’s why we will also be having a small civil ceremony, which will be attended by family before our Temple sealing. Afterward, we will celebrate with a wedding reception, where all of our family and friends are invited to join us in the joy of this new chapter in our lives. We would love to see you there and celebrate together! Thank you for your love and support—we are so grateful to have you in our lives!

Are both the civil ceremony and Temple Sealing open to guests?

Answer

Both our civil ceremony and Temple Sealing will be invite-only, as they will be small and intimate gatherings with close friends and family. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone at the reception!

If I can’t attend the sealing, how else can I be involved?

Answer

If you’re unable to attend the Temple Sealing, there are still many meaningful ways to be involved in our special day! You can join us in celebrating at the reception, send us a heartfelt note or video message, or participate in a pre- or post-sealing gathering with loved ones. Your love and support mean the world to us, no matter how you’re able to be part of our journey!

Can I bring a plus-one?

Unfortunately, due to venue and capacity limitations, we are unable to accommodate additional guests beyond those specifically listed on your invitation. However, we have done our best to ensure that partners and spouses are included. If you believe there’s been an oversight or mistake with your invitation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we’ll do our best to address it!

Will there be dinner or just desserts?

Answer

We’ll definitely have plenty of delicious desserts, along with a grazing table full of snacks and a soda bar to enjoy! However, please note that we won’t be serving a full meal, so make sure to eat beforehand if needed.

Are kids welcome at the reception?

Answer

Yes, kids are absolutely welcome at the reception! We’re excited to have them celebrate with us. There will be plenty of fun and treats for everyone to enjoy!

Will alcohol be served?

Answer

No, alcohol will not be served at the reception. We kindly ask that guests refrain from bringing any, as it is not permitted at our venue. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you!

Is there a theme or dress code for the reception?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal, so we’d love to see you in your best cocktail or dressy attire! Think stylish but comfortable! Feel free to dress in a way that suits your style while keeping it classy. We can’t wait to see you there!
