We met through mutual friends of ours. I was in New York at the time and Kolton was down in Texas with my friend Darby ( my Maid of Honor) and his friend. Darby had mentioned me to Kolton and showed him a picture of me from social media and he liked what he saw. He got my number from Darby and texted me. I was not wanting to date anyone at that time and texted him back thinking nothing was ever going to happen, but little did I know that he was one of the funniest guys I had ever talked to and he completely swept me off my feet.
Our very first BLIND date. We both decided a great place to be on our first date was at the Fort Worth Zoo! Kolton picked me up in his dads white jeep and drove us to the zoo. I still remember how nervous both of us were. Needless to say it was such a great & memorable first date. We found a snake wondering around the zoo! AH! We later met up with mutual friends and ended the night at another friends house. We had our first kiss and the rest is history.
Kolton's parents scheduled for all of us to head down to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for a few days and stay in a log cabin like we did the year before. The only difference is that this time we were all going to take a picture on this island that Broken Bow lake has for a Christmas card.. or so I thought. So flash forward to that day Kolton and I were pulling his boat and Kolton's family were in his dads truck pulling his boat. We ate a good lunch & the plan was to meet up at the lake at this island. Kolton however, "forgot the boat key.. " So Kolton and I turned around to go get it and he took FOREVER. Eventually, we left the log cabin to meet up with his family. As we are getting closer to this little wooded island on the lake, I start noticing red rose petals on the ground. After we turned the boat off and stopped on the island, I realized what was happening. My heart started pounding as Kolton helped me off the boat. We both started walking up the trail of rose petals and I noticed all the pictures of him & I hanging on the trees and I started crying. As we got near the top, from the background comes my ENTIRE family. Mom, Dad, Stepmom, Brother, Sister and Sister in law! I started crying harder. It was so comforting to have them there and witness this moment. We stopped at the top with rose petals shaped in a heart around us and Kolton got down on one knee. Both of us were shaking. It was a magical moment. Of course, I said " YES." I will love him forever.
