Travel to India requires a tourist visa. An e-visa takes 2-3 days to receive. Please apply for an e-visa here: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html Vaccinations and Medications: Please refer to the CDC recommendations listed here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/india Specific malaria medications are not strongly recommended in Kerala. If you are interested in taking malaria chemoprophylaxis please reach out to Ramesh. Otherwise, DEET-containing bug spray should suffice.
Modest clothing is encouraged - light fabrics like cotton or linen will keep you covered and cool. The weather in Kerala will be warm, between 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. We also recommend you bring along bug spray, sunscreen, umbrellas/raincoats, swimwear, and shoes appropriate for your scheduled activities.
Modest dress is recommended for women, particularly if you will visit any temples. Avoid tap water and street food - remember to order drinks with no ice! Kerala is generally safe, but we encourage everyone to travel with a partner or in groups.
Kerala is a dry state, meaning there are no liquor stores and alcohol in restaurants and hotels is substantially marked up. You can pack up to 2 litres of alcohol in your luggage. You may also purchase alcohol at duty free in your destination airport, but this counts towards your 2 litre allotment. We strongly recommend that you BYO for your enjoyment!
