Our Mehndi event is a version of the traditional south-Asian celebration, but far more casual and with no planned dances, etc. - basically just a Pakistani hangout with a henna artist and food! Many attendees will be wearing Pakistani or Indian clothing (but it's not required). This event is definitely optional (we know a Wednesday may be tricky for some people), but close family and friends are encouraged to stop by.
We're expecting ~110 fully vaccinated attendees at the wedding and ~80 at the mehndi the day prior. We do not plan to mandate masks or have special pandemic measures in place. However, for the sake of our more vulnerable relatives, we encourage you to **please take an AT-HOME TEST before attending the events,** especially if you have any reason to doubt your COVID-negative status. Please do not attend if you have tested positive, need to quarantine, or are not fully vaccinated. Please be aware that, weather-permitting, the ceremony will be outdoors, but the cocktail party and reception will take place partially or fully indoors. The mehndi will be in a large house with indoor and outdoor space. Note that we and some of our guests will be flying domestically or internationally to attend. All this being said, we completely understand if some of our invitees are uncomfortable attending due to uncertainty around the pandemic; please RSVP accordingly and/or reach out with questions. Thank you!
Based on the number of wedding guests with cars staying at the hotels, we've opted to skip an additional bus service. However, if you are staying at one of the hotels and do not have a ride set up with a sober driver, there are taxi services and ride-share apps (especially Uber) available in the area. If you need help figuring out your transportation plan, please reach out!
Nope - everyone will order on the day-of! There will be a beef option, a fish option, and a vegan option for the entree course.
Tarrytown has a number of historical sites and parks to visit in the surrounding area (Rockefeller State Park Preserve is a favorite of our family). However, it's also just an hour's train ride from NYC via the Metro-North Hudson Line - people say there's lots to do there too. ;) Reach out to us if you'd like more specific recommendations!
